The Immaculate Deception

For the last few months, one of the projects I’ve been working on is The Immaculate Deception, from Somethin’ Else. It’s a narrative podcast series, presented by the journalist Jenny Kleeman.

It tells the story of a very controversial Dutch fertility doctor, who committed various types of fertility fraud in the 70s and 80s, including getting patients pregnant with his own sperm (without consent) and overusing the same sperm donors in a totally irresponsible way.

The podcast investigates what happened, and follows the stories of donor conceived children and their families, who were affected by what happened at this clinic. It also looks into the wider context of the fertility industry, and how laws and regulations are still catching up with modern reproductive technology.

I was an Assistant Producer on this podcast, working with my colleagues Paul Smith and Peggy Sutton.
